About the Area
Las Vegas is Nevada’s biggest city, with a population of over 2.2 million in the metropolitan area. Las Vegas Valley is in the Mojave Desert - approximately 4 hours’ drive from Sedona, Arizona, the Grand Canyon, and Southern California. Nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts will love Red Rock Canyon’s red sandstone peaks, Mount Charleston’s cooler temperatures, and Lee Canyon’s winter sports. Las Vegas has a hot, arid desert climate in summers and mild winters, with an average of 310 sunny days a year. It is a food lover’s paradise, with every variety of international cuisine imaginable. From fine dining and celebrity chefs to affordable, casual fare and takeout options, you will never run out of dining options to explore. Arts and cultural events, live sports, shows, and a variety of offbeat activities make Las Vegas an ideal place for those looking for fun and enriching experiences in their time off.
Living in Las Vegas:
Las Vegas is a sprawling metropolis. Having a vehicle is essential for interns, as they will occasionally travel to community primary care clinics during their supervised practice rotations.
