Financial Information

The VASNHS Dietetic Internship program does not charge tuition or fees. All expenses directly related to the program’s supervised practice experiences will be covered by the sponsoring organization. Other supplemental resources not directly related to the program, such as student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership, journal subscriptions, textbooks, or other supplemental resources will be at the expense of the dietetic intern. Costs to the internship may include the following: 

  1. Application Fees:  There is no application fee for the VASNHS Dietetic Internship. However, the applicant will need to cover all application fees associated with the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS ($50 for first application, $25 each additional) and computer matching fees ($65) associated with the applicant’s registration. 
  2. Personal room and board:  Dependent on where the intern chooses to reside within the Las Vegas metro area. Apartment rentals can range from $1,000-$1,600+/month for a 1-bedroom apartment. Rental prices may be subject to change. Food and gas expenses vary.
  3. Health Insurance: Intern must provide own health insurance by program start date.
  4. Liability Insurance:  Covered by the sponsoring organization.
  5. Background check and fingerprinting: Covered by the sponsoring organization.
  6. Immunization and physical exam fees:  Covered and completed by the sponsoring organization.  
  7. Basic Life Support Certification:  Training and certification covered by the sponsoring organization.
  8. General supplies:  Covered and completed by the sponsoring organization.  
  9. Resources: Textbooks, RDN exam prep, and other supplemental resources are at the expense of the intern, estimated $300-$500. Access to the Nutrition Care Manual, eNCPT, Evidence Analysis Library, and UpToDate are provided by the sponsoring organization.
