Welcome to the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital Dietetic Internship Program – where your journey to becoming a skilled and confident entry-level dietitian begins! We appreciate your interest in our program.

At Hines, our dietetic internship curriculum is meticulously crafted to set you on the path to success. What makes us unique is our unwavering focus on fundamental competencies that are essential across all dietetics practice areas. This ensures that you receive a comprehensive and well-rounded education, laying the foundation for a successful career.

One standout feature of our program is the opportunity for interns to actively engage in practicing medical nutrition therapy within a diverse range of supervised practice areas. This hands-on, immersive experience is integral to your growth, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. By the time you complete our program, you'll not only possess the essential entry-level dietitian skills but also the confidence to excel as a professional in the dynamic field of dietetics.

Our program is delighted to offer dietetic interns an exciting opportunity—an earned stipend for their 38 weeks of supervised practice at the hospital! That's correct—our interns get paid for all their hard work. In addition, upon completion of the dietetic internship, our interns are exposed to numerous job opportunities, paving the way for a promising career ahead!
