WPB VA HCS Dietetic Internship Mission:
The mission of the West Palm Beach VA HCS Dietetic Internship is to train and direct hire dietetic interns to become competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists congruent with department’s mission: Provide excellent food service and nutrition care to our veterans.
VA West Palm Beach HCS Dietetic Internship Program Goals: (2 goals)
Goal # 1: Program graduates will be competent, entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists possessing the skills necessary to practice in a variety of food and nutrition fields
- At least 80% of program graduates complete the program requirements within 15 months (150% of the program length of time). (RE 2.1.c.1.a)
- Of graduates who seek employment, at least 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation. (RE 2.1.c.1.b)
- At least 80% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion. (RE 2.1.c.1.c.1)
- The program's one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%. (RE 2.1.c.1.c.2)
- During the staff relief rotation, preceptors will rate ALL interns as competent for entry level practice. (Program specific)
- At least 80% of graduates indicate on annual program evaluation that DI faculty are good role models in the field of dietetics. (Program specific)
Goal # 2: Prepare graduates to deliver the highest possible quality patient care, professionalism, and customer care.
- At least 80% of employer evaluations will rate graduates as prepared for entry-level practice as a dietitian. (RE 2.1.c.1.d)
- At least 75% of employers will answer “agree” that program graduates are delivering the highest possible quality patient care and are exhibiting professionalism and customer care in practice. (Program-specific goal)
Program Evaluation Outcomes The WPB VA HCS DI program will develop and present our program evaluation plan, including data, results, and analysis, in accordance with ACEND standards. Annual program evaluation is shared with an advisory board, and outcome data are available upon request by contacting the DI director at 561-618-2778.
