Mission
Prepare future dietitians by providing excellence in a supportive and challenging learning environment designed to promote progressive, evidence-based, patient-centered nutritional care, which prepares our graduates to be highly functioning, competent entry-level Registered Dietitians.

Dietetic Internship Program Goals and Measurable Outcomes

  1. The dietetic internship will prepare entry level graduates who are competent to practice in administrative, clinical and community dietetics.
  • At least 80% of program interns complete the program requirements within 150% of the program length.
  1. DI only option: At least 80% of program interns complete program requirements within 12 months.
  2. MS/DI option: At least 80% of program interns complete program requirements within 33 months.
  • At least 80% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.
  • The program's one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%. 
  • At least 80% of employer evaluations rate graduates as prepared for entry-level or above practice as a dietitian.
  1. Program graduates will be competent entry-level practitioners and be able to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Clinical preceptors will rate 100% of interns as capable for entry level dietetics on the intern performance evaluation for the staff relief rotation.
  • At least 80% of graduates responding to post graduate surveys will report high confidence in working at or above entry level in their first job.
  • At least 80% of graduates responding to post graduate surveys will report high level of competence / knowledge in diversity, equity and inclusion.
  1. The dietetic internship will ensure that rotations and assignments / learning activities promote professional growth and competence in dietetics practice.
  • At least 80% of interns indicate on annual program evaluations that the rotations and internship experiences promoted growth and competence in dietetics practice.
  • At least 80% of interns indicate on annual program evaluations that the learning environment was supportive and challenging.

The program mission and goals support training of future dietitians to be competent, high functioning practitioners who can provide patient centered nutritional care for our nation’s Veterans and the community.
