VA St. Louis Health Care SystemThe VA St. Louis Health Care System is a full-service health care two division state-of-the-art tertiary medical facility that serves Veterans and their families in east central Missouri and southwestern Illinois. They provide inpatient and ambulatory care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, neurology, and rehabilitation, as well as over 65 subspecialty areas. There are approximately 401 hospital beds, a 70 bed community living center (CLC) and a 35 bed domiciliary between the two divisions. The medical center has active educational affiliations with several medical, nursing, pharmacy and other professional training programs.
|The John Cochran Division, named after the late Missouri congressman, is located in midtown St. Louis in close proximity to its affiliated medical schools - St. Louis University and Washington University. It has all of the medical center's operative surgical capabilities, the ambulatory care unit, and a six-story clinical addition that includes surgical facilities, intensive care units, outpatient psychiatry clinics, and expanded laboratory.||The Jefferson Barracks Division is a multi-building complex overlooking the Mississippi River in south St. Louis County. It provides psychiatric treatment, regional spinal cord injury treatment, a community living center (CLC), geriatric health care, rehabilitation services, and a rehabilitation domiciliary program for homeless Veterans.|

The VA St. Louis Health Care System is associated with Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Belleville, IL; St. Charles, MO; Washington, MO; Manchester Avenue in St. Louis; Washington Avenue in St. Louis; and the Missouri State Veterans Home in North St. Louis.
CLINICAL NUTRITION SERVICES AND NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
The Clinical Nutrition Services and Nutrition and Food Services departments serve the Veterans Healthcare System in multiple ways. We provide evidenced-based nutrition care through the use of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) across the continuum of care. We ensure effective nutrition education and counseling throughout the VA healthcare delivery system. We provide guidance and policy oversight to the provision of high quality patient food service. We are involved in cutting-edge nutritional research. We support wellness and disease prevention through the promotion of healthy food choices. And we mentor, educate and lead future Registered Dietitians through VA Dietetic Internship programs.
