VA Loma Linda Healthcare System NFS Department Mission:
To provide exceptional nutrition care. The vision is to foster improved nutritional health for our Veterans through best practices as supported by evidence based, cost effective nutrition care.
VALLHCSDIP Mission:
Provide an enhanced learning environment built on evidenced-based practice that fosters the development of professional skills, and leadership producing entry level dietitians and emerging leaders in the food, nutrition, and healthcare industry.
Program Goals/Objectives:
1. Graduates of the VALLHCS Dietetic Internship program will be competent entry- level registered dietitian nutritionists that possess the skills and ability to work in a variety of food and nutrition related jobs.- “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 57 weeks (150% of planned program length).
- “Of graduates who seek employment, at least 80% percent are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
- ” At least 80% percent of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.
- “The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.
- At least 80% of interns on the 1-year program evaluation will agree or strongly agree that the internship prepared them for dietetic practice.
- 20% of graduates will be employed by a VA organization within 12 months of program completion.
- 90% of employer respondents rate program graduates on the 1-year program evaluation as competent entry-level practitioners.
- 75% of graduate respondents on the 1-year program evaluation will indicate at least one role or activity that demonstrates utilization of leadership skills within 12 months of program completion.
- 90% of graduates will agree that the VALLHCS Dietetic Internship Program provided a supportive mentoring environment that led to effective learning and promoted leadership skill throughout the field of food and nutrition.
