Our Dietetic Internship Program is a well rounded 42-1/2 week program offering rotations in clinical, outpatient, community, food service management, and pediatric settings. The educational experiences of didatic classes and rotations focus on developing clinical and teaching skills, interrelationships and management of resources to prepare the practitioner to assist others in meeting the healthcare challenges of their social and physical environments. Our concentration in "Recognizing and Reducing Health Disparities" challenges interns to reflect upon personal beliefs and biases which may affect patient care as well as develop effective communication skills and cultural competence.
The St. Louis VAMC is a two division state-of-the-art tertiary medical facility. The VA health care delivery system provides comprehensive care for both inpatients and outpatients. There are approximately 290 hospital beds and 64 nursing home beds between the two divisions. The medical center has active educational affiliations with several medical, nursing, pharmacy and other professional training programs.
As you explore our program website, you will discover that our program offers unique learning experiences with highly qualified registered dietitians as well as other health care professionals.
