Minneapolis VA Medical Center (VAMC) Dietetic Internship Program
Instructions for application
Application packets must include:
- A completed application form using the ADA Application and Recommendation forms .
- A current resume.
- A letter of application. The letter should be typed and include reasons for applying to this VA Medical Center, short and long term career goals, strengths and weaknesses, and personal interests.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited education institution to include an official college transcript(s) with certification of degree or include the most recent semester grades with a statement of anticipated date of graduation. Minimum GPA 3.0.
- An originally signed Verification Statement.
- A transcript which includes six or more recent credit hours from an Advanced Level Nutrition or Medical Nutrition therapy class and a Physiology class to meet the Recency of Education requirements if the degree was granted more than five years ago.
- Three letters of recommendation. Two of the references must be from major professors in food and nutrition and/or institutional management. (Use the standard ADA recommendation forms)
Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. The Application packets should be mailed by February 17, 2009 to meet the computer-matching deadline. There is no application fee. Mail packets to:

Computer Matching Information:
Applicants to Dietetic Internships (DI) must participate in computer matching. Applicants should request instructions and a mark/sense card to prioritize their DI preferences. Applicants should request this material from any Didactic Program in Dietetics program director or from D&D Digital Systems, Inc. This request should be made to allow turn around time for submitting by the established deadline dates for the April computer match. The deadline date for the April 2009 computer match is February 17, 2009. There is no charge for the computer matching materials. However, there is a $50.00 charge for computer matching that is due with the applicant's prioritized ranking.
Students will be able to access the D&D Digital Systems Web site on April 20, 2009 to review their personal matching results. Students receiving a match must accept/reject the match no later than 5:00pm on April 21, 2009.

The Minneapolis VA Medical Center Dietetic Internship does not charge an application fee or tuition. You must be a United States Citizen to apply for this internship. Upon appointment to the internship, interns must submit proof of health insurance, immunization records and successfully complete a physical examination.
