The Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center offers a 50 week accredited Dietetic Internship Program that is coordinated with a 16 month Master's Degree Program at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Supervised practice experiences in nutrition therapy, foodservice systems management and community dietetics are offered in accordance with practice areas of registered dietitians at the Louis Stokes CVAMC. Dietetic interns are paid a stipend of $12,984 and are eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians upon completion of the dietetic internship portion of the program.

Dietetic interns take a total of 14 credit hours at CWRU during the first academic year (August to May), seven credits each semester. They are assigned a research preceptor in the first semester who guides them through the research process. In the third and final semester of the graduate program, students enroll for at least 13 hours of graduate credit.

Over 300 registered dietitians have completed the accredited dietetic internship at the Louis Stokes CVAMC since the program began in 1965 and there have been over 600 graduates of the Coordinated Dietetic Internship/Master's Degree Program at CWRU during this time. These master's prepared registered dietitians are sought by employers throughout the country for positions in nutrition therapy, community dietetics and foodservice systems management.

Open House: Visitors are welcome throughout the year. Please contact Dr. Raguso for an appointment.
